The Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence organized, with the support of the European Commission, the “First Meeting of Greek NGOs for Europe: European Union and the Civil Society”. The Meeting took place on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at the Office of the European Parliament in Greece.

This initiative aims at gathering Greek NGOs with a European orientation and developing synergies among them. Given that all participants share common goals and make similar efforts towards dialogue between the EU and the Civil Society, exchanging experiences and pooling our efforts is deemed to be extremely useful.

In this direction, our initiative provides for the inauguration of dialogue among participants, as well as a joint effort, in order to disseminate to the civil society the wider debate on the new challenges of European integration. The Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence has created a collective webportal (http://dialogue4europe.jmc.uoa.gr/), which facilitates access of the civil society and the academic community to information on issues and activities of European concern. The hosted organizations have their own space, which they may update by themselves, while public access to all NGOs with European activities will become more direct and complete, through this webportal.
